Take time to learn more about the union
- Giving away your voice. Union cards, online authorization forms and/or union petitions look like harmless, requests for information — they are much more than that. They are legally binding documents that could give the union the authority to speak on your behalf.
- Giving away your right to privacy. If you fill out the card or online form with your information, you give the union and other people a lot of your personal, confidential details. A union organizer may use your information in ways you don’t want, including sharing it with other people.
- Giving away your opportunity. Today, you have the opportunity to work directly with your leader on workplace matters such as wages, benefits, schedules, and to resolve issues. Signing a union card or online form may give that opportunity to a third-party.
